Sunshine Coast welcomes international students

In line with Queensland State Government’s announcement, Study Queensland and Study Sunshine Coast are delighted to advise that international students are welcome to enter the State to commence or resume studying, living and working from 1am on Saturday 22, January 2022. In addition to education and training visa requirements, all international students coming to Queensland will not be required to quarantine if they are fully-vaccinated with a TGA-approved or recognised vaccine. This is now possible due to the high rates of vaccination among Queenslanders. Mandatory quarantine requirements may apply to other returning international students.

In line with all arriving international travellers, international students will be required to return a negative Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) for COVID-19 within 24-hours of their arrival.

Study Queensland also welcomes the Federal Government’s announcement today of a temporary rebate for international student visas ($630) for students returning to Queensland from today for a period of 8 weeks. Please see the Minister’s website for more information. The Australian Government also today announced students who arrive in Australia between 19 January 2022 and 19 March 2022 will be eligible for a refund of their visa application charge. This also applies to dependent visa applicants who travel during this period.

The steps for students to study onshore in Queensland are outlined in our #2022together student pre-departure guide which steers them through the current processes on how to return to study, live and work safely in Queensland.
