Coolest student coffee spots on the Coast

Australia is well-known for its coffee culture. We love our daily fix and the Sunshine Coast is no exception. Students seeking their morning latte won’t have to look far. Every campus has its own coffee shop and if you want to delve more deeply there are some very cool coffee spots to be discovered. It will be no time before you’ve found your favourite Barista.

Raw Energy, Cotton Tree

Quality coffee that suits the undergrad budget makes Raw Energy a popular hang for students. They will make it just how you like it with extra shots, flavoured syrups, decaf and speciality milks and the food is healthy and fresh too.

CK Coffee Bar & Wholefoods, Mooloolaba

This place has a relaxed, earthy vibe. Their coffee is made on fresh organic milk and the menu is jam packed with locally sourced, healthy food. Try their extra strong Bulletproof brew. It will keep you awake for hours! And, there’s free wifi so you can study too. A cuppa here also has the ‘feel good’ factor with a percentage of the café’s profits going to Big1 social enterprise projects around the world.

The Velo Project, Mooloolaba

This seriously cute little café is in an old garage in Mooloolaba. It has a creative feel with wooden floors and vintage décor. Don’t think the coffee is just for you though – there’s even a ‘Dogue’ menu! Pampered pups can order a ‘poochy chino’ – a special milky treat topped with kangaroo liver sprinkles.

Little Boat, Marcoola

It goes without saying that the coffee is good here but if you are serious about your food this is your spot. The menu is delicious with a highlight being Sunday Roast night. The vibe in this little seaside café is homey and relaxed and it is also dog and kid friendly.

Thrills Espresso, Currimundi

If you are after a fast coffee before you head to the beach or lake this is your spot. It is tucked inside Kitethrills which is the go-to place for kitesurfing equipment and lesson bookings. You can also hire stand up paddle boards, kayaks, surfboards and other water equipment. The food is all made freshly in house and the customer service is excellent.

Create your own coffee trail

Venture into the hinterland and you will also find some tasty brews. Check out Humdrum Espresso in Eumundi or there’s Husk & Honey in Nambour. In Cooroy you can’t go past Circa or Maison de Provence – they serve delicious, authentic French pastries too. La Botiga in Mapleton is also a favourite.

Take a Sunday drive and create your own coffee trail. You could use the handy Food Trail interactive tool to plan your day.
