On-the-job training workshops

Study Sunshine Coast recently hosted six Barista Training workshops to upskill Sunshine Coast students. Over 50 students completed the free Barista training opportunity and are now ready to join the local hospitality industry. Study Sunshine Coast Program Director, Tracey Coobula said it was very timely and needed to fund the Barista training workshops as there is a real skills and talent shortage in the tourism and hospitality sector on the Sunshine Coast.

“Coming up to holiday time we know our students have a great capacity to work now that their studies are finished for the year and we also know that Sunshine Coast hospitality businesses are desperate to find more staff. We were thrilled to be able to assist these students gain their Barista certificate and also in the process hopefully help local businesses find trained staff,” Coobula said.

Study Sunshine Coast also ran two First Aid and CPR training workshops in November for Sunshine Coast students. “We funded over 50 students to complete their First Aid and CPR training, and these students having this qualification can now complete and participate in their work placements and also gain employment in various Allied Health areas on the Sunshine Coast.”

Due to high demand, Study Sunshine Coast will offer more on-the-job training workshops in 2023 for Sunshine Coast students. Students are recommended to stay tuned to studysunshinecoast.com.au for registration information.
