RoboRAVE Australia is coming to the Sunshine Coast in 2020!

RoboCoast and USC are partnering to organise and host the first annual RoboRAVE Australia, a large international robotics tournament, at the USC Stadium in May 2020. RoboRAVE is an international series of robotics events based out of Albuquerque, USA, with challenges aimed at students from primary up to university adults. RoboCoast has been chosen to be the Australian annual event organizer, with a view to hosting the annual RoboRAVE International in 2024, in partnership with USC.

50 Australian teams and 100 international teams would be competing at RoboRAVE Australia 2020, May 22 – 24, totalling over 1000 participants, over 1000 teachers & coaches and over 2000 team supporters over the 3 days of events. Both through the annual RoboRAVE Australia event at USC Stadium and the facilitation of small regional RoboRAVE scrimmages across Australia throughout the year, the event would then continue to grow as an annual event, with the option to hold the annual RoboRAVE international in 2024 with as many as 500 international teams and over 7000 visiting international competitors, teachers, coaches and supporters.

During the first event in 2020, up to 4000 national and international competitors, teachers, coaches and supporters will be seeking accommodation, while many teams that have travelled from overseas will most likely use the opportunity to tour the region beyond the completion dates. In addition to this direct economic impact the event is well placed to further position the Sunshine Coast as a region for learning and innovation. The stature of the event and its supporters would help to cement the Sunshine Coast’s status as a centre of excellence for robotics and technology.
