Student Employability & Industry Engagement Events

As part of the Study Sunshine Coast Industry Engagement Program, Study Sunshine Coast is delighted to support the following events. As part of this program, SSC will offer fully funded tickets to students  from local education providers to attend and engage with panellists and presenters. Forthcoming events include:

1)In Conversation with Clare Bowditch and Andrea Kirwin
by The Refinery Sunshine Coast

Date – Friday 14th May
Time – 5pm to 8.30pm
Location – The Metropolitan (MET)

Join international best-selling author, musician and entrepreneur Clare Bowditch in conversation with Sunshine Coast’s music legend, Andrea Kirwin on Friday, May 14 as she shares her vision of big hearted, creative business and her journey from musician to author to inspirational speaker.

Channelling her passion for music and sustainable arts businesses, Clare speaks on the importance of creative mentors, business with heart, the challenges and loves of a creative life and on finding your own voice.

Andrea Kirwin joins the conversation with tales from her own experiences, including her newly launched ‘Peace Run Records’ studio and venue in Nambour.

Clare and Andrea will each perform during the event.

‘In conversation with Clare and Andrea’ is presented by The Refinery as a part of the 2021 creative business incubator program, an initiative of the Sunshine Coast Council, SunCentral & the MET, Sunshine Coast Creative Alliance. Sponsored by Innovative Planning Solutions.

2)The Design Series on Transport Event

The Design Series is presented by SunCentral and the MET in partnership with the AIA, AILA, EA, PIA, SCCA & PLA. Program of multi-disciplinary events that connect the arts, built form, landscape, design and the environment. For details on past events –

TDS on Transport Opportunity for Sunshine Coast Community professional, business and broader community to be involved in contemporary and correct information on how quality regions are formed with proper integrated transport and land use.

3)The Refinery Industry Marketing and Brand Building Panel

The Refinery is an eight-week creative incubator program designed to transform ideas into sustainable businesses. The Refinery is a learning platform made for creative people designed to refine, develop, test and action your business ideas.

Event Background
The Refinery Industry Panel event will bring together three exceptional panelists discussing marketing and brand building in the creative industries. Confirmed guests include Odette Barry from Odette & Co and Lou Clarke from Ebb & Flow Studios. Daniel Tobin from Urban Art Projects is TBC as the third guest.

After the panel, we have also organised for there to be assisted networking for the students.

Build on your professional and personal skills through the Study Sunshine Coast Talent Essential Career Workshops. We will host a variety of free workshops throughout the semester for Sunshine Coast students to attend. The workshops will focus on developing either your professional or personal skills outside of a classroom and provide a safe space for you to network and engage with other students.

The Study Sunshine Coast Workshops are open to all students who are currently studying on the Sunshine Coast. Places are strictly limited so make sure you register early to secure your spot.

Study Sunshine Coast is delighted to offer current students studying on the Sunshine Coast the opportunity to attend this free Amplifying your brand via LinkedIn Workshop, hosted by Sally Dwyer from Be Social. Be Smart.
Date – Thursday 13th May
Time – 11am – 12.30pm followed by a free lunch
Location – Room CG.50 at USC, Sippy Downs Campus.

Study Sunshine Coast is delighted to offer current students studying on the Sunshine Coast the opportunity to attend this free How to get a job via LinkedIn Workshop, hosted by Sally Dwyer from Be Social. Be Smart.
Date – Wednesday 19th May
Time – 11am – 12.30pm followed by a free lunch
Location – USC, Sippy Downs Campus.
