Sunshine Coast officially has no confirmed active cases of COVID-19

ABC Sunshine Coast has reported this morning the Sunshine Coast officially has no confirmed cases of COVID. ABC news advised the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service’s last active case has now recovered.

That means the Coast, Noosa and Gympie have no confirmed cases of COVID-19 for the first time since late February. The region’s last new case was reported on May 4. In total the region has had 94 cases, and 93 of those have recovered.

A 77-year-old Noosaville woman died after contracting the virus in mid-March, and is the region’s only recorded coronavirus fatality.

Health experts say this does not mean the coronavirus has been eradicated in the community, but is “suppressed”.
