
Our ambassador program this year brings together five domestic and six international students to represent Study Sunshine Coast.
As passionate advocates, they share their experiences, connect with local community, and showcase the incredible opportunities available on the Sunshine Coast. Through events, social media, and mentorship, they help inspire and support current and future students while also developing their own employability skills, expanding their networks, and gaining valuable real-world experience.

Meet Kelsey: a proud Sunshine Coast local!
Kelsey is currently pursuing Bachelor of Psychology Honours at UniSC. She has lived on the Sunshine Coast her whole life, and She says “ I would not want to be anywhere else. It has so much to offer and is continually growing”.
- Why did I join the ambassador Program?
I joined the Study Sunshine Coast Ambassador Program because I had the pleasure throughout my first year at UniSC to participate in many of the opportunities run by Study Sunshine Coast and each time I walked away so grateful for having attended, it brings together all of the best opportunities on the Sunshine Coast and grants you the chance to experience the absolute best of the best. From tourism to professional development and extra-curricular activities, there is something for everyone. I wanted to be a part of this program and continue to deliver and represent this community and company.

Meet Cel from UK!
Cel Ileva is an author, advocate for student success, and a LinkedIn Top Voice. Her work has been featured by TEDx, Prospects UK, and the Business Graduates Association, highlighting her commitment to equipping the next generation with the confidence and skills to thrive.
Cel is currently completing a Master of Social Work at the University of the Sunshine Coast and was recently awarded the National Excellence Award: AASW Social Work Student of the Year 2024. She is deeply involved in the UniSC community, serving as the Co-chair of the International Student Group, a Wellbeing Ambassador, and a Student Representative for the School of Law and Society. Her dedication to student engagement and community service has earned her multiple awards, including the UniSC Emerging Student Volunteer of the Year Award, Student Representative of the Year Award, and Student Leadership Award.

My journey on the Sunshine Coast has been filled with incredible opportunities to connect, learn, and grow. Volunteering alongside students and staff has deepened my appreciation for UniSC’s strong values of partnership and inclusivity. I’m passionate about supporting student success and would love to continue sharing my experiences to help new international students feel welcomed, confident, and excited about their journey ahead!

Meet James: Passionate About Technology and Sustainability!
James is studying a Bachelor of Arts majoring in International Studies, whilst utilising his prior I.T background to assist domestic and international students navigating the complicated world of technology. Developing repairable and sustainable technology is an important motivation for studying at the University of the Sunshine Coast, hoping to combat pre-planned obsolescence and the growing e-waste crisis.

I have wanted to study social work and explore youth social issues in greater detail for over two years. As an International Student Scholarship recipient, the opportunity to study in a nature reserve with lush rainforests that provide a sense of calm and inspiration made my decision to study at UniSC a heartfelt “yes. I’ve had many positive experiences here. Every weekend feels like a brand new adventure, exploring it’s lush forests and beautiful beaches. I would wholeheartedly recommend the Sunshine Coast as a study destination and holiday destination to anyone who wants to experience nature at its best.

Meet Lisa from Japan!
Lisa is an international student from Japan in my final year of a Bachelor of Outdoor Recreation and Environmental Studies at the University of the Sunshine Coast. She love surfing, outdoor activities, and immersing myself in different cultures while traveling, connecting with people, and learning about their way of life. She is also passionate about waste management in small Pacific Island nations, outdoor environmental education/activities, and sustainable tourism, exploring how people can travel in a way that positively impacts the local economy and culture and minimises environmental harm while creating meaningful and memorable experiences for themselves.

I’m really excited to meet students from all over the world, make new friends, and join networking events to connect with top professionals in the industry, build connections, and explore new opportunities! I’m also looking forward to sharing how beautiful the Sunshine Coast is and inspiring students who are thinking about studying here. I hope to encourage them to come and enjoy a fun, fulfilling academic and personal journey on the Sunshine Coast!

Sunshine Coast is the perfect place to both pursue your academic goals and enjoy a fulfilling personal life. From my experiences, I have gained so much knowledge, experience, and confidence in the field of outdoor recreation, both from the courses at university and from the variety of hands-on experiences through job opportunities and real-world applications. Additionally, Sunshine Coast offers a wide range of activities in the natural environment, so you’ll never get bored! Build the strong connection to the nature and appropriate more than ever you have before.

Meet Noomi from Finland!
Noomi an international student from Finland. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Business degree, majoring in Economics and Finance at the University of the Sunshine Coast. Outside of my studies She is actively contributing to her campus life by volunteering. Additionally, in her free time I enjoy running, surfing, and connecting with friends.

I wanted to be a part of the Student Ambassador Program to connect with people from diverse backgrounds, create new experiences, and making the most of my time while studying on the beautiful Sunshine Coast.

I love the Sunshine Coast and I would recommend here as a study and holiday destination because UniSC offers a strong academic reputation, with modern facilities and a high teaching quality. The Sunshine Coast and UniSC offers amazing nature and lifestyle, which makes it ideal for outdoor activities and is suitable for creating a good study-life balance. Additionally, the Sunshine Coast is a more affordable option compared to bigger cities in Australia and UniSC offers opportunities for students to be engaged and grow professionally while studying.

Meet Lee from South Korea!
Lee is currently studying a Diploma of Kitchen Management at TAFE on the Sunshine Coast. He is a strong passion for introducing Korean cuisine to others, especially to those who are special to him.

I am eager to explore the diverse and beautiful hidden gems of Queensland. Through participating in the Ambassador Program, I hope to engage in cultural exchange, connect with a wider network of people, and discover more of the state’s stunning locations.

I love the Sunshine Coast because it’s not as crowded as a city and it’s hospitable. There are still a lots of restaurants and bar!

Meet Deni from South Africa!
Danielle is proudly South African starting her new journey here in Sunshine Coast. She is currently studying her diploma of nursing at TAFE and currently in her second stage and expected to finish in December of 2025!
- Why did I join the ambassador Program?
When I first came to Australia, I found it hard to believe that everyone can be so friendly. I joined the study Sunshine Coast ambassador program to help me branch out and meet new people, I have become friends with those who understand what it means to be an international student, what it means to miss home, your family and friends. But being an ambassador helps me learn more about this amazing place, it’s opened my eyes to new opportunities and has shown me experiences that I would have never thought of before. Being apart of a community like study Sunshine Coast made me feel loved, supported and apart of a bigger family that I cherish with all my heart. I am a proud ambassador for study Sunshine Coast and I am forever grateful for them!

The Sunshine Coast is beautiful and reminds me of the beaches back home. It’s warm and welcoming, the sky is completely different to the African sky, it’s beautiful and majestic, it has a different glow to it. The sand is soft and the water is warm. It might not be home but I can definitely see that it soon will be.

Meet Cherise: Passionate Educator and Aspiring Powerlifter!
Cherise is a dedicated teacher aide, working full-time with young children—a role that fuels her passion for education. Currently enrolled in the Diploma of Primary Education at the University of the Sunshine Coast, she’s committed to enhancing her knowledge and skills in the field. In 2020, she discovered her love for the gym, and in 2023, she competed in her first powerlifting competition. This year, she’s excited to take on her second state championship competition, continuing to challenge herself and grow in the sport.
- Why did I join the ambassador Program?
I am excited to be part of the Study Sunshine Coast Ambassador program because I believe in the value of sharing my experiences as a young adult living and working on the Sunshine Coast and all the opportunities it offers. Moving here from South Africa, I have grown to love this community and the lifestyle it provides. Being an ambassador would allow me to give back by sharing my journey, from my studies at the University of the Sunshine Coast to my personal growth in the gym. I’m excited about the chance to connect with fellow students and prospective international students, while learning more about how I can contribute to the growth of the Sunshine Coast community. I hope to gain valuable leadership skills and expand my network, while helping others navigate the transition to life and study here.

Meet Zac!
Zac is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) at UniSC, driven by a strong passion for helping people regain independence and improve their quality of life. He is particularly drawn to the holistic approach of Occupational Therapy, which addresses both physical and mental well-being to enable individuals to engage in meaningful daily activities. Whether working with children, older adults, or individuals recovering from injuries, Zac finds it incredibly rewarding to be part of their journey towards achieving their personal goals. Outside of his studies, Zac is passionate about staying active and spending time outdoors. He enjoys running along the beach, which serves as both a great workout and a way to clear his mind. Zac also loves hiking, exploring new trails, and relaxing by the ocean. He values his friendships deeply and enjoys spending time with friends, whether trying new activities or simply catching up.

What excites me most about the Ambassador Program is the opportunity to showcase the incredible lifestyle here on the Sunshine Coast. There’s something truly special about starting the day with a sunrise at the beach, grabbing a coffee, and even squeezing in a quick swim before heading to uni. The balance between study and enjoying the outdoors is fantastic, and I’d love to share this unique experience with new students. I’m eager to help others feel at home, connect with people from all over the world, and highlight everything that makes studying here so unique—from the welcoming community to the relaxed, vibrant atmosphere.

The Sunshine Coast is an incredible place to study, and I highly recommend it to family and friends.
What stands out most is the strong sense of community. There are plenty of free, welcoming social clubs that make meeting new people easy. I’ve made great friends through running clubs and social ocean swims, and I love how open and friendly everyone is, no matter where you’re from.
Beyond university life, the Sunshine Coast offers breathtaking natural beauty, from stunning beaches to national parks and waterfalls. Whether it’s hiking Mount Coolum, swimming at Kondalilla Falls, or exploring Noosa National Park, there’s always something to do.
The study-life balance here is unmatched. Unlike busier cities with long commutes and crowded campuses, you can quickly switch from lectures to the beach or a national park. The smaller university community makes it easier to connect, and with so many outdoor activities, staying active and making friends is effortless. The relaxed pace of life allows students to focus on their studies while enjoying an amazing social life. —something that’s hard to find anywhere else.

Meet Gabbi !
Gabbi is 20 years old and in her second year of Biomedicine at UniSC. She has lived on the Sunshine Coast since she was three and says, “Sunny Coast is definitely home for me.” In her spare time, she loves to read, watch a good show, go to concerts, and spend time with her family and friends.

I wanted to join the Student Ambassador Program because I love the Sunshine Coast and want to share what makes it such a great place to live and study. As a student, I understand how important it is to feel connected and supported, and I’d love to help create that sense of community for others. This program is a great opportunity to meet new people, represent the region, and contribute to making the Sunshine Coast even more welcoming for students.

The Sunshine Coast has the perfect balance of lifestyle and convenience. I love that I have everything I need close by (work opportunities, uni, shops etc) while still being able to enjoy that fun, coastal life. Whether it’s heading to the beach, exploring around, or just catching up with friends at a local café, there’s always something to do. It’s such a great place to live, and I’m lucky to call it home.
